Microsoft and Twitch have partnered to present the second /twitchgaming Showcase: ID@Xbox event today, and it featured a ton of updates and game announcements from indie developers around the world.

Alongside updates and new looks at The Artful Escape, OlliOlli World, Library of Ruina, and RPG Time, we also got news that Stardew Valley would be headed to Xbox Game Pass in Fall 2021.

However, there was so much more news, and we've gathered each and every update and announcement below.

Lightyear Frontier Is Fertile Ground Between Farming Simulator and Stardew Valley, But With Mechs

Lightyear Frontier is an open-world farming exploration game that features crafting, resource management, and base building. It also has a mystery-driven narrative that will keep players coming back for more and, as previously mentioned, mechs!

It supports 4-player co-op, but can also be played solo, and will be released on Xbox platforms and PC in 2022 in early access.

Stardew Valley Will Be Released on Xbox Game Pass in Fall 2021

While no date was given, it was confirmed that Stardew Valley will be released on Xbox Game Pass on Xbox and PC in Fall 2021.

The Artful Escape Gameplay Trailer Revealed

We got a new look at The Artful Escape, a game all about a teenage guitar prodigy becoming a folk music legend. Featuring the voice talents of Michael Johnston, Caroline Headey, Jason Schwartzman, Mark Strong, and Carl Weathers, The Artful Escape will be available on Xbox Game Pass on September 9, 2021.

Sam & Max Save the World Remastered Is Available Now

Sam & Max Save the World Remastered is available now and is an updated version of the 2006 classic. The game has been updated by a small group of original developers with the blessing of Sam & Max creator Steve Purcell.

OlliOlli World Player Customization Revealed, 120FPS/4K Confirmed

We got another look at OlliOlli World – the third entry in the skateboarding action-platformer series. Alongside giving a look at player customization, it was also confirmed that the game will run at up to 120FPS/4K. OlliOlli World will be released in Winter 2021.

Aeon Drive Demo Is Available Now

Aeon Drive, which is set in the cyberpunk landscapes of Neo Barcelona, is an action-platformer with a speedrunning twist. Furthermore, there is a demo available right now that will give you a taste of the game before it is released in Fall 2021.

Lab Rat, a new satirical science-fiction puzzle game is coming to Xbox Series X & S as well as PC next year.

Appearing in today's ID@Xbox stream, Lab Rat is a block pushing puzzle game that comes with some Portal vibes, not least its cutting sense of humour. Designed as a satire of gaming and reliance on machine learning, it was originally announced solely for PC, but will now come to Xbox Series X and S as well. All versions are due to arrive in 2022.

Revealed at Gamescom last year, the game will feature over 100 levels that are designed to blend a variety of genres, and will also periodically poll players on various subjects, as the game's controlling AI attempts to understand humanity. Poll results from all players will be collated and presebnted as the game goes on. You can sign up for a beta now.

Lab Rat developer Chump Squad previously released ingenious musical puzzle game Kine, so there's a lot to be excited for here.

We’ve known about Windjammers 2, the sequel to the ultimate frisbee-em-up for a while now. But today, developer Dotemu has confirmed the game will be coming to PS4 and PS5, as well as announcing the timings for an open beta starting August 11.

The sequel to the fan favourite disc-based sports title had previously been announced for release on PC, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia, but Dotemu has revealed in a press release that it's also been working on PS4 and PS5 versions that will launch alongside the other releases. Given that the original game launched on PS4 and PS Vita, it was a likely possibility the sequel would make it to PlayStation platforms, but it’s always nice to have some confirmation.

Most excitingly, players can jump into an open beta starting tomorrow, August 11, across PS4, PS5 and PC. The beta opens at 6am Pacific / 9am Eastern / 2pm UK and lasts until August 22, giving players the chance to try out the newest iteration of competitive video game frisbee. The beta also offers cross-play between PlayStation consoles, and won’t require a PlayStation Plus subscription to try out, so anyone with a current PlayStation console can jump right in.

The beta features four stages and characters to try out. The stages include: Beach, Ring, Stadium, and Rooftop, and the characters are: Steve Miller, Gary Scott, Loris Biaggi, and Sophie de Lys. Each character has different abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, which will allow players to experiment to find the play style and character that works for them.

Windjammers last made waves in 2017 when Dotemu ported the classic 1994 Neo Geo sports game to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, with a Switch release following later in 2018. These new versions added online play, which breathed new life into the classic game, and brought a whole new audience to the series. Last year, IGN chatted to the developers about the challenges and opportunities of creating a sequel for this '90s classic in the modern era.

Dotemu CEO Cyrille Imbert also took to the PlayStation Blog to share his thoughts on the game, and why he’s so excited for the sequel to come to PlayStation platforms. According to Imbert, Windjammers 2 is the first game that Dotemu is developing “100% in-house”. Imbert also goes on to say that due to the positive support from the PlayStation community when they ported the original game, “bringing the sequel to PS4 and PS5 was a no-brainer”.

Windjammers 2 was originally scheduled for release in 2020, before being pushed back, but the game looks to be on track to fling its way into your life in 2021.
