• Apple iPad Air Deals: Save on 2020 Model iPad Air at Amazon Right Now

If you're looking to pick up an iPad Air for someone for the upcoming holiday gift-giving season I recommend checking out these iPad deals at Amazon going on right now. If you want to get one for yourself, I'm not here to judge. I have a regular ol' iPad and I love it a lot more than I thought I would. It's largely replaced my laptop, and being able to use the Apple Pencil with it is great.

    Apple iPad Deals

Both the 64 and 256GB iPad Air are on sale, but the 64GB version is the better deal in terms of relative savings. Both are still pretty excellent, although I wish there were more color options available for the 64GB version.

This is one of Amazon's "Epic Daily Deals," so the prices are only good for today. However, the Apple AirPod deals on regular, Pro and Max AirPods are still live and have been all week.

Ted Lasso Season 2 Finale Review — “Inverting the Pyramid of Success”

The Season 2 finale of Ted Lasso is now streaming on Apple TV+.

Ted Lasso has been a balm since it came into our lives in August 2020. Right when we needed them most, Coach Lasso and AFC Richmond dad-joked and growled their ways into our hearts and earned the adoration of the world over. Season 2 brought new hurdles into the fold, with the team fighting to get promoted back into the premier league, but it turns out football didn’t play as big of a role in this second chapter. The lack of football stakes combined with more challenging character arcs resulted in some controversy among fans this year, leaving some wondering if the Apple TV+ darling had lost the plot. But those who have waited to binge the season all at once can rest assured that most certainly isn’t the case.

In our Ted Lasso Season 2 premiere review, writer Matt Cabral mentioned that it “displays a promising evolution of the series' reliable formula.” He couldn’t be more right about the premiere (as well as the rest of the season that was to follow and the subsequent finale that would cap everything off). Ted’s (Jason Sudeikis) ongoing struggle with his mental health in the wake of his divorce matched with other difficult themes of the season made the series feel heavier in its second showing, but not in a way that diverted from its warmth. We experienced loss, betrayal, and a whole host of complicated emotions but never once did the series sacrifice its kindness or joy. Much like its title character, Ted Lasso isn’t here to talk down to its viewers. It’s just here to take them on a little ride. If it wins them over in the process well, heck. I think the Coach would call that a pretty good day.

There’s no real answers or endings when it comes to grief, loss, and depression. Still though, a finale has to end its set of chapters. “Inverting the Pyramid of Success” had a tall order to fill there, but the writers room knew what they were doing from day one. Nate’s (Nick Mohammed) journey was at the center of fan frustrations this year, but we see it all come to a head in this last episode of Season 2. It’s not going to satisfy the viewers who have found themselves annoyed at the loss of the kind kitman of yesteryear, but it’s not meant to. The purpose of Nate’s storyline is to make you a little uncomfortable. Its job is to highlight how easy kindness can be lost in favor of power just as much as it’s meant to showcase the pain of that loss. Nate tests us in the same way he tests Ted and Coach (Brendan Hunt), and the finale expertly pushes that arc to its breaking point without diverting from the rest of the plots unfolding around it.

The incomparable Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) has played a major role in so many key arcs throughout the series, but the finale finally gives her permission to take what’s hers. The challenges that this brings to Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) and Roy (extremely not CGI creation, Brett Goldstein) are not insignificant, but it also results in some of the best performances of the season. Temple, Waddingham, and Goldstein showcase exactly why they were all nominated for their respective Emmys throughout their stories in the finale. But watching Keeley come into her own with the love and respect of all those around her has been one of Season 2’s truest joys. It’s wonderful to see the culmination of that in “Inverting the Pyramid of Success.”

If there’s a failing to the finale, it’s highlighted in a weird visual structure at the very end. There are several moments that almost play like post credit scenes, but they’re not. In fact, had they simply popped them in the middle of the credits, the formatting may have been a little less jarring. As for the lack of football related mistakes, it makes sense why some folks — particularly football fans — may be annoyed there. The thing is, Ted Lasso isn’t really here to talk about football. When we finally return to the football portion of the storyline in the finale, it doesn’t matter that the math didn’t add up or that there was simply no time for AFC Richmond to end up back in the semifinals. We care because the characters that they care about caring.

Humor is such a powerful tool, and Ted Lasso wields it like a broadsword. Conversations surrounding mental health are not easy to have. They feel especially taboo in the sports world. The series finding a way to tackle the subject without chastising its viewers is no simple task. But that’s the Lasso way, isn’t it?

Marvel’s Avengers Adds Paid XP Boosts, and Fans are in Uproar

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have added the option to pay for XP and resource collection boosts using real money in Marvel's Avengers. The move has been slated by many fans who believe it offers a stark contrast to previous statements made surrounding the game's monetization tactics.

Marvel's Avengers' recent addition to Xbox Game Pass is likely to have brought a range of new players to the game. For pre-existing fans, however, news of the game's move to the new platform was shortly followed by the more troubling reality that its in-game marketplace now offers players the option to purchase boost-based 'consumables' using credits that can only be acquired through spending real money.

As reported by VGC, the game's new consumables can be purchased to temporarily increase the amount of XP and resources that a player can acquire while playing the game. This essentially allows for fans to make faster progress – so long as they're happy to spend real money doing so.

News of the change in monetization tactics has left fans over on the Marvel's Avengers subreddit in uproar, with many feeling that the move directly contrasts a number of previous comments promising that a "pay-to-win" style system would never be introduced into the game.

Prior to the game's release studio lead Scot Amos spoke about the game's approach to monetization with GamesIndustry.biz, saying, "In terms of how we monetise, we'll have cosmetics. No gameplay paywalls." As spotted on the subreddit, a blog post written on the game's website in September 2020 echoed similar statements, saying: “We’ve committed that content purchasable with real money in Marvel’s Avengers will be aesthetic-only additions, which will ensure we can keep the game fresh for years to come.”

While members of the game's community have been vocal with their anger surrounding the decision, many aren't particularly surprised – with a number of community members claiming that they'd anticipated the move ever since the game made XP progression changes earlier this year. "We saw it 7 months ago, when they announced the XP nerf," says user echild07.

Regardless of whether fans anticipated the decision or not, it sounds like the developer's decision to renegotiate on its previous comments is a step too far for some. "Uninstalled today. Don’t think I’ll worry about coming back for spider man either," says one user. "Can’t be bothered to support a company with 0 integrity. Will not purchase another Crystal Dynamics game again."

In other Marvel's Avengers news, Crystal Dynamics recently announced that its upcoming Spider-Man DLC will include additional story and cutscenes when the character launches for PlayStation users later this year. For more on Marvel's Avengers, make sure to check out our review.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Character Art Shows Detailed Close-Ups of Our Anti-Heroes

Staff from Rocksteady Games are tweeting artwork from Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, which features detailed renders of each of the game's leading characters.

The art is set to be released individually throughout the day, but began started with an image of Deadshot, posted by Rocksteady's marketing manager, Gaz Deaves. "Here's the Man Who Never Misses," he said. "Check out that disappointed dad energy."

That was followed up by Rocksteady's new take on Harley Quinn, posted by associate producer Holly Gordon. "IT'S HARLEY QUINN, BABY!," Gordon wrote. "I'm so excited to share this fierce image of Harley and can't wait for you all to meet our badass and headstrong QUEEN in SSKTJL!"

Check out all the images in the gallery below, which we'll update as they arrive:

Sound designer Elly Johnson introduced Captain Boomerang, saying "Raise a tinnie for the one, the only, Captain Boomerang! Absolutely HONOURED to show you all my favourite speedy boy". Rounding out the four was advanced VFX artist Hanno Hinkelbein, who showed off King Shark, saying, "ALL HAIL THE KING! I’m happy to be ambassador for my favourite of the four, the fish with the most charming smile in the whole world – King Shark!"

The images so far appear to be slightly reworked versions of the existing key art for the game, but it's not clear if we'll see brand new images today too.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is the next game from Batman: Arkham developer Rocksteady, and more from the game is due to be revealed at DC Fandome this month. For more, here's everything we know about the Suicide Squad game, and the first trailer shown at DC Fandome last year.
