• Eight Things to Know for Cookie Run: Kingdom’s Update

Cookie Run: Kingdom is a mobile base-building RPG that offers a sheet pan of over 64 unique characters on fresh adventures. Led by fearless leader GingerBrave, these tough Cookies explore over 250 story levels where they build delicious strongholds, fight for a vast Kingdom, and uncover secrets of the past.

Cookie Run: Kingdom is already a wildly popular game all over the world. And now that it’s finally been given the proper resources for an English-localization, you too will be able to enjoy the delicious mysteries hidden around the Kingdom.

Devsisters, the developers of Cookie Run: Kingdom, are baking up their English-speaking version of the game using voiceovers from 64 acclaimed actors and influencers.

“Our diverse Cookie characters are the heart of our game and really come alive with their own unique voices and personalities. We are proud to be offering this brand-new experience to the English-speaking players,” said Jongheun Kim, co-CEO of Devsisters.

The authentic human voices are integral to Cookie Run: Kingdom, as they help create the nuanced traits behind each of the cookie characters. The lineup of talent is headlined by Jeremy Shada as GingerBrave and Michael J Wilson, whose credits include Shark Tale and Ice Age, contributed to the script.

    Recipe for Success:

    Save those Crystals

This game uses a gacha system, so save those Crystals! Crystals seem to come easy and cheap at first, but become much more precious later. Be patient and wait for when a new featured Cookie comes along that fits your style or need, and only then spend those Crystals.

    Find your favorite Cookies

Once you get the gameplay basics down, identify what type of player you are, what type of Cookies you like, and which ones you want to invest your time and resources in developing. What type of tasty team do you want to assemble? Each Cookie has a specialty skill that ranges from offense, defense, healing, attacking or shielding magic, etc.

Experiment with your own winning recipe before baking it in

There are no resets once you start building your team and leveling-up your Cookies, so be careful about which Cookies you keep in your jar and how much you upgrade them. Don’t invest too much time leveling-up Cookies until you unlock at least a few with decent rarity.

    Take advantage of powder power

Each Cookie’s unique skills can be enhanced with Skill Powders. Powders are a necessary ingredient in elevating your character up to level 60, and can be obtained through completing daily challenges and also acquired in various parts of the Kingdom.

    Don’t skimp on toppings

You can add up to five toppings (or buffs) to your cookie-crumbling squad, so keep them handy for Cake Monsters and give your team a little something extra when they need it most.

    Keep your pantry stocked

Like any good bakery, you want to keep your pantry stocked with plenty of farm fresh ingredients. You do this by building cookie houses and then make sure they’re cranking out coveted Star Jellies, which you need to level-up your Cookies.

Bake daily for bonuses and freebies

In addition to daily rewards for just logging on, there are regular opportunities to gain free resources, Cookies, toppings, and Crystals. Everyone has 1-2 minutes a day to login and claim free loot, right?

Send your Cookies up, up and away

Hey, it’s a Cookie kingdom after all—be hasty about sending your pastries on a tasty hot air balloon flight

to gaze upon the splendor. Expeditions are rewarded with toppings, coins, Crystals, and more. You can also ship your Cookies far and wide and trade for goods you need using the train station.

From the endlessly appealing gacha component to the vibrantly colored and creatively crafted Cookies, to their individual personalities brought to life by a roster of professional voice actors, Cookie Run: Kingdom is some seriously sugary software sure to satisfy your gaming sweet tooth.

Cookie Run: Kingdom is available now for iOS and Android.

The Batman: Batcave, Batmobile, Riddler and More Shown Off in Lego Sets

Four new LEGO tie-in sets for 2022's The Batman have been revealed showcasing a range of Minifigures and buildable creations that fans will be able to get their hands on. As is sometimes the case, the sets also offer a preview of what to expect from the movie itself.

As spotted by Brick Fanatics, the four new sets have been revealed via listings on LEGO's official store. Upon their release at the beginning of next year, fans will be able to get their hands on LEGO versions of the Batcave, the Batmobile, and more with several key characters from the movie also set to appear.

LEGO's take on the Batcave comes in the form of the 'Batcave: Riddler Face-Off' set. In the box, fans will get their hands on six different Minifigures including but not limited to Batman, Commissioner Gordon, The Riddler, and Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman). The LEGO Batcave has been designed to include a range of computers, tools, and gear for vehicle repairs as well as its own Gotham City map and jail cell to store prisoners.

The LEGO Batcave takes shape around a garage-like setup. There will be two versions of the Batmobile set to be released by LEGO as part of its movie tie-in, and both will be able to utilize the Batcave's wheel ramps for repairs where necessary.

The 'Batmobile: The Penguin Chase' set is set to launch with a modest version of the superhero's iconic vehicle that comes with missile launchers as well as Minifigure versions of Batman and The Penguin. Meanwhile, a standalone Batmobile set seems to hone in further on the vehicle's design. This Batmobile comes with two different light-up bricks that illuminate the engine and front grille as well as steerable wheels and opening doors.

The final LEGO set revealed to be launching for The Batman shows off Batman and Selina Kyle engaged in a motorbike pursuit. Within the set, fans of the series will gain access to their very own glow-in-the-dark Bat-signal as well as Minifigure versions of the two characters, a range of gadgets, and their respective motorcycles.

According to LEGO, the sets are due to release on January 1, 2022. For more on The Batman, make sure to check out this article detailing everything we know about the DC reboot so far. Alternatively, if you'd like to watch the film's first trailer, you can do so below:

Dune Director Denis Villeneuve Wants to Direct Bond, But Thinks It’ll Be a Big Challenge After Daniel Craig’s Era

Dune director Denis Villeneuve has expressed his desire to make a James Bond movie, though he recognizes the challenge of taking over the reins following the Daniel Craig era.

As reported by IndieWire, Villeneuve recently told MTV's Happy Sad Confused podcast that there would be very little hesitation in his decision if he was approached to reboot the Bond franchise and helm the next 007 installment in the wake of Cary Joji Fukunaga's No Time To Die. In fact, he indicated that it is one project that features on his wishlist as a filmmaker.

"I would deeply love one day to make a James Bond movie," Villeneuve said. "It's a character that I've been with since my childhood. I have massive affection for Bond. It would be a big challenge to try and reboot it after what Daniel did. What Daniel Craig brought to Bond was so unique and strong and honestly unmatchable. He's the ultimate James Bond."

As a self-proclaimed Bond fan, Villeneuve said it would be a "privilege" to be able to add a Bond movie to his filmography at some point in the future. He referred to the opportunity as one that would bring "pure cinematic joy," though his schedule could get quite busy if Dune proves to be a success and Warner Bros. happens to give Part 2 of the saga the greenlight.

Villeneuve previously outlined his filming plans for Dune as he revealed that he would be looking to shoot the sequel in 2022 in order to bring Part 2 to the screen "as soon as possible," so long as the project is given the approval it needs to move out of the starting blocks. He stressed that he wouldn't compromise on quality to get Part 2 made quickly either.

"Everybody at Warner Bros and Legendary, they are 100 percent behind the project," he confidently stated. "They feel that it would need a really bad outcome at the box office to not have a Dune Part 2 because they love the movie. They are proud of the movie, so they want the movie to move forward. And they still did half of it. So, you know, I'm very optimistic."

The movie adaptation of Frank Herbert's seminal sci-fi novel releases in theaters and on HBO Max on October 22. If you're looking for a movie to watch in the meantime, No Time To Die is currently playing in US and UK theaters, with the 25th Bond film slated for release in Austrailia on November 11. We also have a rundown of everything you need to know before watching.

The Legend of Vox Machina: Critical Role Animated Series Gets Release Date and Opening Titles – NYCC 2021

The Legend of Vox Machina – an animated show based on D&D webseries Critical Role – will be released for Amazon Prime Video on February 4, 2022. We also got a first look at the show's combat-heavy opening title sequence.

Announced during New York Comic-Con, the cast of Critical Role revealed the release date and showed off an opening title sequence that shows Vex'ahlia, Vax'ildan, Percival de Rolo, Pike Trickfoot, Keyleth, Scanlan Shorthalt, and Grog Strongjaw in action. Check it out below:

The cast also performed a live read of a section from the first episode of the show, lending their voices to a fully animated clip of a foul-mouthed tavern brawl. The series is based on Critical Role's first RPG campaign, which ran from 2015 to 2017. During the panel, the cast made clear that it's their story, "in every sense of the word."

The creation of the series is a great story in itself. After crowdfunding to create a single animated special, the campaign made so much money that it was turned into a 10-episode series. The campaign became one of the most successful Kickstarter projects of all time, before Amazon picked up the show and upped the number of episodes to 24, spread over two seasons. The show subsequently added Phil Bourassa, lead character designer on Young Justice, to help create recreate the RPG characters.

Alongside their new animated show, the Critical Role team will begin their third campaign this month, October 21. The entire cast wil lretrun to play new characters meting in Marquet, set in the world of Exandria. The livestreamed show will even be available to watch in select movie theaters.

Jade Raymond’s New PlayStation Exclusive Will Include Social Elements and User-Generated Content

Jade Raymond has said that Haven's upcoming PlayStation exclusive game will include social elements and user-generated content, adding that it's being created by many of the devs behind the original Assassin's Creed.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Raymond had started Haven Entertainment Studios, an independent company in Montreal currently working on an unannounced new IP for PlayStation. During an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, the studio boss delved a little further into what fans can expect from the game and exactly who's making it.

"There are three things that are really exciting me, which are also pillars for the way that we're thinking about things," says Raymond. "First is games as a social platform. The pandemic has proven that gameplay is the social glue that binds communities. Especially for the younger generation, this is what you do and how you make friends and hang out. That is something that we really want to build and design for."

While there are plenty of games around that include social elements in their design, the second concept on Raymond's list adds another layer to the direction in which the studio looks to be taking its new IP.

"The second thing is thinking about the 'remix generation'. It started a little while ago, there is this age of self-expression where we're designing our NikeID shoes, we're reading our friends' blogs rather than what our professional journalists are writing. And I think that has continued to go further with things like TikTok. That's another thing that we're thinking about at the heart of this IP. It is beyond user-generated content, it is about taking that self-expression and remix concept to the next level."

PlayStation has seen a number of its previous exclusives focus on similar ideas to some degree in the past. Games such as LittleBigPlanet have allowed fans to create and play user-generated levels alongside one another, while the more recent release of Dreams scaled up the concept further by granting users the ability to create fully-fledged games, mechanics, art and more across its creation platform.

Raymond didn't go into too much detail surrounding how Haven's upcoming game will take shape. However, the studio head was keen to note that she's excited to be able to create a new IP from scratch, and in particular, one that "can last for generations and become meaningful for people on a deeper level."

"But how do we create an IP that has that depth, but it is designed to be owned by the fans from the start," asks Raymond. "When we created Assassin's Creed, we were really thinking about creating an IP that can be owned by creative teams in the future. We thought if we create a framework of anything that takes place in a moment in history and has the Assassins behind it, [that] will be consistent with the brand so teams can evolve that and own it. Now what we're thinking about is creating an IP where it's not just professional teams, but it is designed to be owned by the fans and can evolve through that."

Creating a game that pushes the boundaries of creativity and ownership sounds like no easy task. Fortunately for Raymond, the IP is in experienced hands. Corey May, who was the original writer on the first Assassin's Creed is taking up the role of world director for the game, while a number of other staff from the original Assassin's Creed team are also involved.

"We started in 2004 working together. I was 29 at the time. Now we all have kids and grey hair and it's many years later," says Raymond. "But we still love working together. Corey was there, Raphael, Mathieu Leduc, who is our creative director, Pierre-Francois Sapinski [head of production]… the list goes on. We have a lot of people from that original game. And there really was a magical feeling when working on that first game, and I feel like we have that again."
