• James Gunn Will ‘Be Back’ to Make More DC Movies or TV Shows, Studio Boss Says

Although The Suicide Squad director James Gunn is returning to Marvel to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, DC Films president Walter Hamada has said that Gunn will be back for more DC projects.

Hamada confirmed the news to THR, saying that Gunn is always welcome back to DC.

“Gunn is always welcome back, whatever he wants to do. He really has a vision and he’s a great partner with us. Whenever he wants to come back, we’re ready for him,” said Hamada, who added, “He’ll be back. We have more stuff planned.”

We already know that Gunn is writing and directing several episodes of The Suicide Squad spin-off Peacemaker, which is set to star John Cena, but it appears there may be bigger plans for Gunn and DC in the future.

“This is what happens when you leave a brilliant man alone with his thoughts,” said Cena — dressed in full costume — of Gunn’s scripts. “I didn’t even hear what it was [before saying yes], and when I heard it was Peacemaker, I was extra excited.”

The cast of The Suicide Squad share Cena's sentiments, as Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie echoed his thoughts during the film's premiere in Westwood.

“If I read the script and didn’t know James Gunn was going to direct it, it would have been a straight-up ‘no,'” Robbie said. “I was like, ‘No one could pull this off.’ It’s so specific in its brand of comedy and violence. But it came out of his imagination. He knew exactly what to do with it.”

One of the main reasons DC is ready to welcome Gunn back is that The Suicide Squad, as noted by producer Charles Roven, came "in under budget and had no days of additional photography – a rarity in blockbuster filmmaking."

Gunn is also known for writing roles for his frequent collaborators, and Michael Rooker, who plays Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy and Savant in The Suicide Squad, says this may be his secret weapon.

"He usually says he wrote it for me — and that’s his ploy,” Rooker says with a laugh. “That’s the way he gets me to want to do it for less money. It works.”

Gunn is also very thankful to those who make these films happen. At the screening, Gunn spoke for 10 minutes and thanked many of his collaborators by name, and even asked them to stand to be recognized when he called on them. To end his speech, he thanked Suicide Squad comic creator John Ostrander, the one man who made this all possible.

"This movie could exist without any of us here. There is one person it wouldn’t exist without … That is John Ostrander," Gunn said.

These talks between Gunn and DC stem from the director's firing by Disney back in 2018 after controversial tweets resurfaced. He was fired as director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but was ultimately re-hired after a public apology, the handling of the situation, and the support from many around the world.

This also helped lead to Gunn directing The Suicide Squad, which has been met with a mostly positive reception. In our The Suicide Squad review, we said that "James Gunn absolutely kills it with The Suicide Squad. The film is a bloody, chaotic ride from start to finish that finally does justice to Task Force X. It’s endlessly shocking and funny, and its showcase of F-list DC villains is nothing short of brilliant."

Check Out The First Trailer for Y: The Last Man

FX on Hulu has released the first trailer for its upcoming Y: The Last Man series and it features Yorick and his monkey, of course, alongside a healthy heaping of violence.

That's to be expected, as any Y: The Last Man comic fan knows, but for the uninitiated, this trailer is a great start for understanding the world of this story. Put simply, any mammal with a Y-chromosome dies suddenly in a worldwide event except for one man: Yorick Brown (and his monkey Ampersand).

You can see Ben Schnetzer as Yorick in the trailer alongside his trusty Capuchin monkey. Other members of the cast include Ashley Romans as Agent 355 and Diane Lane as senator-turned-president Jennifer Brown, who also happens to be Yorick's mother.

Fortunately, the trailer doesn't reveal too much about the overarching story of Y: The Last Man, although it does show what the beginning of the Y-chromosome-decimating event looks like.

Y: The Last Man will premiere exclusively on FX on Hulu on September 13 and it will follow the now-complete story of Y: The Last Man created by Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra for DC Comics' now-defunct Vertigo comics arm.

While waiting for the show to premiere, catch up on the history of Y: The Last Man by reading about how a movie was in the works as early as 2014. Check out our thoughts on the comic finale in IGN's Y: The Last Man #60 review after that and then watch this video about the series cast.

For more, read IGN's breakdown of everything we know about Y: The Last Man and then watch this Y: The Last Man fan film after that.

Where to Buy PS5: Games, Controllers, and Consoles When They Come Back Online

UPDATE August 5, 2021: Walmart is restocking PS5 and PS5 Digital consoles today beginning at 3 PM ET/12 PM PT.

If you're in the US and you're still searching for a PS5, my condolences. The PS5 restock situation has been a massive pain since the PS5 preorders first went live on September 17, 2020. If you've been able to actually load a retailer's page enough to check-out during a restock, you know the process has been plagued by technical problems, dashing the hopes and dreams of many.

However, things are looking up. Sony said PS5 production is on track for 22 million consoles by the end of its fiscal year, and it's already sold 10 million PS5s in spite of the immense problems with supply.

    Where to Buy PS5

When PS5 stocks come back online, these are the retail links where they live:

Improve Your Chances of Buying a PS5

Beyond the obvious need to be in the right place at the right time, there are a few things you can do ahead of time to improve your chances of getting a PS5 when they do briefly pop into stock.

Create Retailer Logins Before PS5 Comes Back In Stock

So you've managed to get to the product page and add a PS5 to your cart. The thrill of victory grows ever closer, and after 10 times of hitting the check-out button, you're taken to a login page to either sign-in or use a guest account. Using a guest account means entering in your credit card info, billing and shipping, and maybe hitting a CAPTCHA, all of which are costing you valuable seconds. If you already have an account, you can log-in and move through the check-out process more easily.

    Follow Dedicated Twitter Accounts

The demand for PS5 and Xbox Series X has meant a rise in the number of stock-tracking Twitter accounts, but for my money, if you really want to ensure the fastest possible response, follow one of the Big 3 Deals Accounts listed below:

There are so many more, but those are the ones I personally recommend, and they will help improve your chances of scoring that sweet PS5.

    Buy a Bundle

One of the problems with PS5 stock has been its appeal to scalpers, thanks to its incredibly high demand and seemingly miniscule supply. In an effort to make the PS5 less attractive to scalpers, retailers like GameStop routinely offer bundled deals, throwing in an extra controller and a year of PS Plus, for example. The bundles don't have a mark-up, and in fact sometimes they represent a slightly better deal than buying the items separately. If you plan on getting PS Plus or a few games anyway, definitely consider spending a little more up front for a bundle. Usually the PS5 bundles last much longer than the consoles alone, so it also saves you a bit of a headache.

    Sign Up for Retailer Alerts

I put this one last because it's not the most reliable (has anyone actually ever gotten an email from Amazon when anything has come back into stock?). But if you do sign up at places like GameStop or Walmart, you will occasionally get an email letting you know ahead of time when they're going to have another restock.

The same thing holds true for certain retailer Twitter accounts. GameStop's official Twitter has been really great at giving you a heads-up ahead of a bundle restock, and Walmart, too, has tweeted out upcoming availability.

    Where to Buy PS5 Accessories

It's not just the console that's hard to find, even PS5 accessories like the Pulse 3D headset and the DualSense charging station have been a pain to get your hands on.

When they do come into stock, they last much longer than PS5 restocks do, but they're still hot items.

Sony also announced M.2 SSD support is coming to the PS5, and we have a solid list of the best PS5 compatible M.2 SSDs to upgrade your onboard storage.

When Will It Be Easy to Buy a PS5?

That's an extremely difficult question to answer, but one that's on everyone's lips. In 2020, 4.5 million PS5 consoles were shipped worldwide, Sony said, putting it inline with the PS4 launch numbers. Sony's short-term goal for PS5 is 14.8 million consoles by the end of its second year, and it looks like it could make it, with semiconductor procurement ramping up to meet the massive demand for PS5. Microsoft is facing similar shortages of the Xbox Series X, although it expects the shortages to peter off by the beginning of the second quarter of this year, and in fact Microsoft has already seen a bump in sales as its consoles become more prevalent (although still very hard to find).
