Disco Elysium: The Final Cut, the lauded story-driven role-playing game about being a total failure of a detective, has finally gotten itself a Switch release date: Oct. 12.

A physical version of the game for the Switch will be available in early 2022. Pre-orders for the digital version begin today.

During today's Nintendo Direct presentation, Disco Elysium: The Final Cut got the release date announcement after months of anticipation, showing some footage of the game's shabby hero of a detective and the mystery he stumbles through in the world of Elysium.

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut has been out for a while on consoles after making the leap away from PC exclusivity, having dropped on PS4, PS5, and Stadia back in March. It's allegedly coming to Xbox as well, but we still don't have a date on that.

We gave Disco Elysium a 9.6 in our initial review of the game, having loved its sharp writing, memorable characters, and its embrace of old-school, pen-and-paper RPGs. We deemed it the best PC exclusive of 2019, and it's since been so celebrated as to get a TV adaptation in the works from the same producer as the Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

Capcom has announced the first major expansion for Monster Hunter Rise titled Sunbreak. The next expansion is set to release in summer 2022.

The brief trailer showcased a terrifying new monster perched over dilapidated gothic ruins. Capcom is promising a new story, new locales, monsters, and hunting actions, and quest ranks when Sunbreak is released next year.

Monster Hunter Rise is the most recent, mainline Monster Hunter game and introduced several new gameplay mechanics and monsters. Although it was a more traditional Monster Hunter experience, gameplay advances and quality-of-life improvements made it one of the best in the series for newcomers and veterans alike.

Final Fantasy 14 players are asking Square for better cyber safety features to prevent harassment in the game.

A Reddit post on Thursday that has gathered almost 4,000 upvotes at the time of writing outlines several issues Square could take to prevent in-game stalking. Primarily how character names are easy to find on Square's Lodestone database, which can reveal a character's location, server, appearance, and more.

Unfriending a user also only removes them from the person who unfriended them. So, any unfriended user can visit the Lodestone database to find the user who wants to unfriend them. Users can also be matched with players who they have blacklisted.

Final Fantasy players are simply asking for the option to make Lodestone profiles private.

"I love this game dearly, but it's an MMO, and stalkers and harassment is [sic] plentiful," the Reddit user wrote in the initial post. "I've heard so many horror stories, had to console friends who've had to deal with it, and found myself in this situation a few times as well."

IGN has reached out to Square for comment.

Square recently made a change to Final Fantay 14 due to fan requests. The Sage job icon was altered after concerns of trypophobia. In a blog post at the time, Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida thanked fans for the feedback.

"But regardless of such differences, you have given us your earnest feedback, and there's still time to change things," Yoshida said. "Considering also the fact that job icons are prominently visible in the game, and that they also appear on merchandise, we've made the decision to redesign the sage icon."

Final Fantasy 14 has skyrocketed in popularity in 2021. According to Steam Charts, the average number of in-game users playing through Steam on PC in August 2020 was about 20,000. In August 2021, that number reached 40,000. Final Fantasy 14 was released on PlayStation 5 in May, and the game's newest expansion, Endwalker, is due for a November release.

A DC Comics documentary series is coming to HBO Max from the director of The Pixar Story.

The news was announced on Wednesday in a press release from WarnerMedia. The show will be developed by DC Comics and promises a complete history of the company. The documentary will be so big it will be spread over three parts and stream exclusively on HBO Max.

Leslie Iwerks and Mark Catalena will co-direct the series with CW DC boss Greg Berlanti as an executive producer. Iwerks previously directed The Pixar Story and The Imagineering Story for Disney with Catalena acting as an editor and writer on The Imagineering Story. Berlanti is best known to DC Comics fans as an executive producer on the Arrowverse TV shows.

DC Comics CCO Jim Lee said in a press release that he’s excited that a documentary series can explore an 80-year history of comics, movies, and more.

“DC has a rich legacy of over 80 years of iconic storytelling: from the introduction of the genre defining [sic] Super Hero Superman in 1938 to the amazing movies, TV shows, cartoons, games and comics which have been synonymous with superheroism for generations thereafter,” Lee said. “We are so excited to dive into this history and bring fans along this amazing journey.”

It won’t be the first DC Comics documentary released by the company. The 89-minute movie Secret Origin: The Story of DC Comics was released in 2010 and is currently available for free on the Warner Bros. Entertainment YouTube channel.

Outside of comics, DC is currently airing new seasons of Supergirl and Stargirl on The CW, new seasons of Teen Titans Go! and DC Super Hero Girls on Cartoon Network, and new seasons of Titans and Doom Patrol on HBO Max.

Injustice, a new DC Comics movie, is scheduled for release on October 19. Two new DC Comics video games, Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, are expected to be released in 2022 with DC Universe Online continuously updated.

DC fans recently got a sneak peek at new music for the upcoming movie The Batman. In our Doom Patrol season 3 premiere review, we said the new season "premieres with its signature blend of poignant character development and plain WTF moments, paving the way for an exciting installment."
