• Ryan Reynolds Is Taking a Break From Making Movies

Ryan Reynolds has announced he will be taking a small break from acting after wrapping up his new movie Spirited.

In an Instagram post, Reynolds thanked his co-stars, which include Octavia Spencer and Will Ferrell, as well as the crew on Spirited. Reynolds also added that this is a “Perfect time for a little sabbatical from movie making.”

It’s unclear how long Reynolds plans to take a break from acting, but maintaining a healthy work-life balance is important for everyone, even actors.

Spirited is an upcoming Apple TV+, musical retelling of the holiday classic, A Christmas Carol. Reynolds will play the miserable industrialist Ebeneezer Scrooge while Ferrell will play the Ghost of Christmas Present.

In the comments Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively joked that Michael Caine did this first, referencing Caine’s announcement that he is retiring from acting (which his representatives later denied).

The sabbatical could also mean that Reynolds doesn’t have a particularly big project lined up right away. Even though we know a new Deadpool movie is in development at Marvel Studios, Reynolds might not be suiting up in the red outfit anytime soon.

And the timing lines up with today’s news that Marvel has delayed nearly its entire Phase Four slate through 2023, as well as other movies like the next Indiana Jones. Though this could all be just a coincidence.

Runaways Writer Brings She-Hulk Back to Basics in New Ongoing Series

With Marvel's She-Hulk debuting on Disney+ in 2022, Marvel Comics is putting the spotlight back on Jennifer Walters in a new ongoing series.

The new She-Hulk series will be written by Rainbow Rowell, who also penned the most recent volume of Runaways. The series will be drawn by Rogê Antônio (X-Men Red), with Adam Hughes and Jen Bartel providing covers for the first issue.

She-Hulk has been on a bit of a bit of an emotional rollercoaster ride the past few years, beginning with her near-death experience in 2016's Civil War II. The lingering trauma of that experience was explored in the 2017 Hulk series by Mariko Tamaki. She-Hulk has since been a regular character in Jason Aaron's Avengers series, where she's taken the "Hulk" name and become a lot more like her savage, brutish cousin.

However, it appears Jen's life will be returning to some semblance of normalcy in the new series. The new volume of She-Hulk will bring back her classic 2000's costume and status quo, with Jen balancing her superhero adventures with a day job as a defense attorney. Marvel's press release teases the return of a familiar face who will spark a new mystery for Jen in issue #1, as well as a final page "that will shake up her life and possibly the whole Marvel Universe."

“She-Hulk is the best of the best,” Rowell said in a statement. “She’s smart, she’s funny—and she’s really and truly heroic (all that and she has the best hair in comics). Jen has always been at the top of my Marvel wishlist, and I’m thrilled to be writing her next chapter.”

"I’m very excited and feel honored to be a part of this exciting new phase of She-Hulk,” Antônio said. “Working with Rainbow Rowell has been inspiring and it’s amazing how she lets her passion for the character shine through on every page. I hope the fans have as much fun reading as I’m having illustrating these new adventures."

    She-Hulk #1 will hit stores on January 12, 2022.

It's not surprising to see Marvel bring the character back to a more traditional status quo with the new Disney+ series on the horizon. The live-action series stars Tatiana Maslany as She-Hulk and Jameela Jamil as her nemesis Titania. We don't yet know the premiere date for Marvel's She-Hulk, but Marvel's Kevin Feige confirmed the first season will be ten episodes in length.

The Crysis Trilogy Is Back and Better Than Ever

The Crysis series has consistently delivered some of the most beautiful and impressive first-person shooters available on any platform, and now, Crytek is getting ready to bring remastered versions of the main three entries in the franchise to modern platforms with support for resolutions up to 4K, up to 60 FPS, and much more with the release of the Crysis Remastered Trilogy.

The Crysis Remastered Trilogy includes the single-player stories of Crysis 1, Crysis 2, and Crysis 3. For those unfamiliar, Crysis tells the story of special forces soldiers who are outfitted with nanosuits that offer such abilities as greater strength, enhanced speed, improved defense to withstand bullets, and a cloaking skill that makes you near-invisible. While players can choose to purchase each game separately if they already own Crysis Remastered, the Crysis Remastered Trilogy collection will give them all three games for the price of two.

Despite all three games running natively on PS4 and Xbox One instead of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the next-gen consoles’ versions will be optimized via backwards compatibility to “play smoother and better than ever before.” For example, the Crysis Remastered Trilogy will feature resolutions up to 4K and up to 60 FPS thanks to Dynamic Resolution.

On PC, players will be able to lock their frame rate to whatever they choose and, if their rig can support it, select Max Settings to see the most advanced tech Crytek has to offer on display.

The original Crysis Remastered was released in 2020 and the PC version included ray tracing alongside “high-quality textures up to 8K, HDR support, temporal anti-aliasing, Screen Space Directional Occlusion (SSDO), Global Illumination (SVOGI), state-of-the-art depth fields, new

light settings, motion blur, parallax occlusion mapping, Screen Space Reflections and Shadows (SSR & SSS) as well as new and updated particle effects and more.”

All platforms will be able to enjoy these classic titles with updated lighting, better-looking characters, weapons, and environments, and high-definition textures to make the world feel more real.

Crysis was first released back in 2007 and pushed tech forward by running at up to 720p and up to 30 FPS. Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 followed in 2011 and 2013, respectively, and continued the trend of high quality graphics perfectly matched with exciting gameplay set by the first.

Ready to get back into your Nanosuit? Now you can, when Crysis Remastered Trilogy releases on October 15th for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC via the Epic Games Store, and the Nintendo Switch eShop for a MSRP of $49.99 USD. The retail version of the Crysis Remastered Trilogy for Switch will be coming soon.

Apple Announces the M1 Pro and M1 Max Chips

Apple has announced two new chips designed for its 2021 MacBook Pro models: the M1 Pro and M1 Max.

The tech giant promises that M1 Pro-powered MacBooks will promise 70 percent better CPU performance and double the graphical performance than the year-old M1 chip. The mid-level chip includes a 10-core CPU with eight performance cores and two efficiency cores with a 16-core GPU. Support for RAM has also increased, with the M1 Pro supporting up to 32GB with 200 GB/s of memory bandwidth.

Although the M1 Max offers the same CPU configuration as the M1 Pro, the higher-end chip doubles the memory bandwidth and the capabilities compared to the Pro variant, with the flagship chip supporting up to 64GB of RAM with a memory bandwidth of 400GB/s and a 32-core GPU. Because of the additional power included in the M1 Max, Apple says this new chip can connect up to four external displays on a single device that includes the chip.

As far as performance goes, Apple claims that both the M1 Pro and M1 Max "delivers up to 1.7 times" the CPU performance compared to "the latest four-core and eight-core PC laptop chips." Unfortunately, Apple did not specify as to which laptops it was referring to, nor did it dive into how well these new chips can perform from a gaming standpoint.

The M1 Pro and M1 Max announcement come at an interesting time for Apple as the company is closing in on year one of its two-ear transition as more of its products become powered by its own silicon. The transition began late last year following the release of the M1 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, while earlier this year, the in-house chip made its way to Apple's flagship tablet, the iPad Pro.

The M1 Pro and M1 Max will be available as part of the 2021 redesigns of the 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro that were also announced today. For more information on everything announced during today's event, check out our roundup of everything announced during Apple's second fall hardware event.

Apex Legends’ Newest Character Was First Introduced In Titanfall 2

A character originally introduced in Titanfall 2 is coming to Apex Legends as its newest playable character.

Ash is a Simulacrum Pilot from Titanfall 2. Her other identity is Dr. Ashleigh Reid, who was turned into a Simulacrum after betraying her fellow scientists and getting stabbed in the process. Reid has also already appeared in Apex Legends as the announcer for the Arenas mode. Along with the new champion, there will be new weapons like the C.A.R. SMG, which is also a callback to the Titanfall series.

You can check out Ash's full reveal trailer below.

The new playable character is coming as part of Apex Legends' newest season, called Escape. We don't yet know how Ash will control, as Respawn said it will reveal more details for the season in the coming days. The end of today's trailer announced a launch trailer for the new season coming this Thursday, October 21.

While the Titanfall franchise is living on through Apex Legends, it seems a sequel to Titanfall 2 may not happen any time soon. Last year, we learned that no new Titanfall games were in development. Then, despite Titanfall 3 popping up in the GeForce Now leak, Titanfall's community coordinator said Respawn was working on "too many other games" to make a new Titanfall.
