• Mass Effect: A New Poster Teases the Future of the Series

A new poster released in celebration of N7 Day has teased a bit of the future of Mass Effect and its next entry.

Shared on Twitter by the official Mass Effect Twitter account, the image appears to simply be a ship landing on a planet near a crater. However, the shape of the crater and circle in the middle are very reminiscent of the Geth – a group of networked AI beings that were created by the Quarian but eventually rose up and gained sentience. Legion was a Geth and was a member of Shepard's team.

If you look closely at the image, you see a group of four characters leaving the ship (potentially hinting at the party size of the next Mass Effect?). In the group, there appears to at least be one Krogan (like Wrex) and possibly a Salarian (like Mordin) or Turian (like Garrus)? They are very small, so it is hard to tell for sure and they could be anything.

The ship also bears the letters SFX. For reference, the Normandy from the original trilogy had the sign SR1.

Spoilers ahead for Mass Effect 3!

Near the crater, we also see the body of a dead Geth. While this may be a stretch, is there a possibillty this is the body of Legion and this is the planet Rannoch? While his death can occur in multiple ways, Legion does meet his end on Rannoch in Mass Effect 3.

Once again, this could just be a tease and not really make it into the final game, but this is another hint of a possible returning character after an Asari that very much resembled Liara T'Soni appeared in the new Mass Effect's announcement trailer.

The new Mass Effect looks to take place far in the future after the original trilogy, and Liara and the body of Legion could be one of the few remaining characters who could last that long. Liara looks much older than how we see her in the original games, and Asari are known to live past 1,000.

This is all speculation, and a bit hopeful on my part as Legion was one of my favorite characters in the Mass Effect Trilogy. However, that's what makes these teases so intriguing, because they are giving a glimpse of the future of one of the most celebrated franchises in gaming.

Vin Diesel to Dwayne Johnson: ‘I Say This Out of Love… But You Must Show Up’ for Fast & Furious 10

Vin Diesel has taken a step in ending the feud between him and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson by sharing an Instagram post that talks about how important he is to him and his family and how he "must show up" for Fast & Furious 10.

Diesel shared the letter with an image of his character Dominic Toretto and Johnson's Luke Hobbs, and his words describe how Diesel's children still refer to him as Uncle Dwayne and that "Hobbs can't be played by no other."

"My little brother Dwayne… the time has come," Diesel wrote. "The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes… but the time has come. Legacy awaits.

"I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny."

For those wondering who Pablo is, that is the nickname that Diesel gave the late Paul Walker, the actor who played Brian O'Conner in the Fast and Furious franchise. Walker and Diesel were very close, and Diesel even walked his daughter down the aisle at her wedding.

In October 2021, Johnson spoke out once again about his ongoing feud with Diesel that began in 2016 when The Rock called out an unnamed male co-star as a "candy ass." While it appeared to have ended in 2019, Johnson recently revealed he wouldn't be returning for Fast 10 or 11 following Diesel's comments that he had to show The Rock "tough love" to get the performance they needed from him.

While it remains to be seen if Diesel's words will help bring Johnson back to Fast 10 or 11, Johnson did confirm that he would at least be coming back to the character of Luke Hobbs in the sequel to Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw 2.

Elden Ring: Five Classes Revealed Ahead of Closed Network Test

Five of Elden Ring's playable classes – Warrior, Enchanted Knight, Prophet, Champion, and Bloody Wolf – have been revealed ahead of its closed network test from November 12-14.

The official Elden Ring Twitter account shared these class names and some images of what your character would look like should you choose them when the game is released on February 25, 2022. There is no mention as to if these are the only classes that will be available at launch, and no further details are given for any of the classes.

By looking at the list, Warrior is the only returning class from a previous FromSoftware game, and the others appear to be new classes or variations on older ones. For comparison, Dark Souls had 10 classes, Dark Souls 2 had eight, Dark Souls 3 had 10, and Bloodborne had nine starting classes/origins. Sekiro had no classes as there was no character creator.

Elden Ring's upcoming network test is for console players only and its announcement came alongside the news that the game would be delayed a bit over a month from its original January 21 release date. Unfortunately for those just finding out about this, the closed network test signups ended on November 1.

Fans of Elden Ring were treated to 15 minutes of gameplay from the latest FromSoftware game, and it showed off our best look yet at the game's world, Elden Ring's bonfire alternative the Site of Grace, the map, Stormveil Castle, the Limgrave region, and a boss fight with Godrick the Golden.

Elden Ring's Collector's Edition was also revealed, and it contains a steelbook case, a 40-page artbook, a digital soundtrack, and a 23cm tall statue of Malenia, Blade of Miquella (the red-haired, helmeted character who was seen in the very first reveal of Elden Ring). There will also be a Premium version that includes a 1:1 scale replica of Malenia's winged helmet.

Eternals Wins the Weekend Domestic Box Office With $71 Million in Ticket Sales

Marvel's Eternals had a strong opening weekend with $71 million in ticket sales, but it failed to surpass the opening weekends of Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

As reported by Variety, Eternal's opening numbers were a bit shy of the high-end expectations for the film that saw it debuting to $75 million to $80 million. It also earned less in its opening weekend than other pandemic-released films in the MCU like Black Widow's $80.3 million and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' $75.3 million. It also fell short of Venom: Let There Be Carnage's $90 million.

Internationally, Eternals brought in another $90.7 million, bringing the film's global total to $167.1 million.

One of the reasons that Eternals may not have caught up to the other MCU films could have to do with its divisive critical reception. With a Rotten Tomato score of 48% as of this writing, Eternals is the first MCU film to receive a "rotten" score.

In our Eternals review, we said that it "is beautifully shot and terrifically acted, but it bites off more than it can chew in its third act."

“You have to keep things in perspective,” says Jeff Bock, an analyst with Exhibitor Relations. “For any other studio, this kind of result would be a major, major hit. But the disturbing news for Disney is the critical reception for ‘Eternals’ and how that will impact word-of-mouth going forward. You could see a steep drop in the box office in its second or third weekends.”

Dune placed second this weekend with $7.6 million, bringing its domestic total to $83.9 million hot of the heels of the official announcement that a sequel would be on its way.

No Time to Die, which will be available to rent on November 9, took the #3 spot with $6.2 million; Venom: Let There Be Carnage took fourth with $4.5 million, and Ron's Gone Wrong nabbed the fifth-place spot with $3.6 million.
