• Video Game Cover Artist Recreates Iconic Final Fantasy 14 Track… With 1,000 Singers

A group of more than 1,400 singers have come together to sing Final Fantasy 14's iconic Close in the Distance track, with video game cover artist Alex Moukala at the helm of the project.

Shared on his Twitter, the song's arrangement is also by Moukala alongside fellow cover artist Husky by the Geek, while the singers include a number of special guests including Final Fantasy vocal artists Susan Calloway, Amanda Achen, and Paolo Andrea di Pietro.

YouTubers (and musicians) Studio Nicktendo, Enochian Tori, and Lollia Rose also take part, alongside a handful of others. The truly impressive part comes towards the end of the song, however, as 1,400 more members of the Final Fantasy 14 community appear on screen, all singing along too.

"I can't stress enough how much of a difference you all made here," Moukala said In follow-up tweets. "The 1,000 of you who sent us beautiful submissions and the superb soloists who lent us their voices for this love letter."

Upon thanking each other contributor, Moukala added: "It's safe to say this game has changed so many lives. It wouldn't have been possible without you all.

While he's most known online for the legendary 30-person Wii jam session, Moukala is an orchestral composer whose music has appeared in several film trailers including Avengers: Endgame. He recently covered the Elden Ring main theme in 15 different styles, from Spanish guitar to trap and traditional Japanese.

Stranger Things 4 Soundtrack Is Up for Preorder

Music plays a key role in the fourth season of the Netflix series Stranger Things. (Or, as they’re calling it, Stranger Things 4, as if it were a movie sequel instead of a TV show… but I digress.) You can preorder the official soundtrack of the latest season of Stranger Things right now in a variety of formats that range from vinyl to audio cassette. Yes, you can get it on cassette tape. The ‘80s were a wondrous time indeed. Additionally, four retailers are offering their own versions of the soundtrack, with exclusive cover art and a bonus item.

    Stranger Things 4 Soundtrack

If you go the vinyl route, you have several options: the standard soundtrack or the retailer-exclusive variants. The standard one comes with two LPs and a Stranger Things poster.

The various retailer-exclusive ones at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target, and Walmart feature alternate covers, plus unique bonus items like a jigsaw puzzle or a lithograph. See below for details.

    Stranger Things 4 Retailer-Exclusive Editions

The big musical breakout — or musical rediscovery, as the case may be — is Kate Bush’s hit song “Running Up The Hill (A Deal with God).” You can hear that song often throughout the season’s nine often mega-sized episodes. And there’s a reason it made a splash with a new generation of listeners: it still slaps.

Other songs include “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” by Journey, “Detroit Rock City” by KISS, “Pass the Dutchie” by Musical Youth, and more.

Both the audio cassette and CD formats are scheduled to release September 9. The vinyl releases are slated for a little bit later, on November 4.

Square Enix Explains How Final Fantasy: Crisis Core Remaster Will Differ from the Original

Final Fantasy 7 fans have been clamoring for more details after last month’s announcement of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, a remaster of 2007’s Crisis Core, and today Square Enix’s Twitter gave us a tiny taste of what we can expect to see in the full game.

According to Square, the Zack Fair-centric game will differ from the original in several ways including an improved camera and character models.

In last month’s trailer, we got a glimpse at the fast and frantic combat as well as the much-improved character models. The game is using the new designs for Aerith and Zack from Final Fantasy 7 Remake as well as improving other character models.

Players will also get an optimized UI as well as a new menu-based battle system. While details on the battle system haven’t been revealed yet, the glimpses we’ve gotten of the battle system don't appear to be too far off from the original and still include the slot-machine-like DMW system.

The Final Fantasy 7 compilation has always included some great music, and the Crisis Core remaster will include new background music arrangements by Takeharu Ishimoto. The remaster will also feature voiceovers in scenes that were previously text only.

Crisis Core originally released back in 2007 on the PSP. It serves as a prequel to Final Fantasy 7 and follows Zack Fair on his journey to find missing SOLDIER Genesis Rhapsodos. In our original review we gave it an 8.5/10 and said, “Crisis Core is a great PSP game — no question. It honors Final Fantasy VII's legacy."

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion will release this winter and is now available for preorder.

HP 4th of July Sale Is Ending Tonight: 10% Off Coupon Code and Incredible Savings on Gaming PCs and Laptops

HP is hosting its annual 4th of July Sale, complete with some incredible discounts on several of their latest model gaming desktop PCs and laptops equipped with the newest Intel Alder Lake CPUs and GeForce RTX 30 series video cards. To make the deal even sweeter, there are even tiered 5% off and 10% off coupon codes that stack with these instant discounts. These prices are competitive with the lowest prices you'll see from other gaming brands elsewhere, and everything is backed by a 1 year HP warranty for peace of mind.

HP 4th of July Gaming PC Deals

HP also plenty of excellent gaming PC deals for the 4th of July week, especially when combined with the 5% off or 10% off coupon codes. Eligible models include the newly updated 2022 HP Envy and OMEN gaming PCs. The HP Envy lineup is nice for those who don't want their gaming PC to look like… well, a gaming PC. It has plenty of customizable powerful components under the hood combined with understated aesthetics. If, however, you want bold standout looks (and RGB!) and over-the-top cooling, you'll want to look towards the HP OMEN lineup. The HP OMEN 25L is a budget oriented gaming PC that offers RTX 30 series power at a fantastic price point. The HP OMEN 40L and 45L are updates over the previous generation's 25L and 30L. The new models have a larger chassis volume and twin (40L) or triple (45L) intake fans for better airflow. The 45L goes even further by placing a 360mm liquid cooling system externally above the case dubbed the "Cryo Chamber". That allows for cooling that rivals enthusiast DIY systems. Components wise, both the 40L and 45L are equipped with the newest Intel Alder Lake processor, Z690 motherboard and RTX 30 series video card.

HP 4th of July Gaming Laptop Deals

The HP 4th of July sale includes deals on three gaming laptops. HP OMEN laptops offer capable gaming performance in a sleek and thin package. These HP configs are equipped with either an RTX 3060 or RTX 3070 video card, which are recommended for portable gaming. A less power video card would limit the games you would be able to play, and a more powerful video card probably wouldn't be noticeable in terms of 1080p gameplay performance.

    HP Reverb G2 VR Headset

The Reverb G2 normally sells for $599, but the HP Store has it for $200 off. That makes it the same price as the Oculus Quest 2 256gb model but with some significant upgrades under the hood. The Reverb G2 sports the second highest resolution of any VR headset with 2160×2160 pixels per eye (even more than the already impressive Quest 2's 1832×1920 resolution), manual IPD adjustment, a far more robust headstrap than the Quest 2, inside-out tracking that doesn't require external sensors, and off-ear headphones so they don't get as grimy and maintains your peripheral hearing.

HP 4th of July Gaming Monitor Deals

A good gaming PC can't reach its fullest potential unless it is paired with a good gaming PC. HP's 4th of July sale includes some big discounts on three gaming-centric monitors. These monitors all boast blazing fast 1ms response times, 165Hz refresh rates, and high quality IPS panels. Of course they will make excellent general purpose workstation monitors as well.

Rockstar Reportedly Shelves Red Dead Redemption, GTA 4 Remasters to Focus on GTA 6

Rockstar Games reportedly shelved planned remakes, including Red Dead Redemption and GTA 4, to focus on the upcoming GTA 6. This is after Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was released to negative reviews from critics and fans alike,

According to a prominent leaker and reported by Kotaku. Both Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto 4 remasters were "on the table a few years ago, but Rockstar chose not to proceed with the projects in mind."

However, according to Kotaku, these projects weren't fully canceled and could possibly see a return to development after GTA 6 releases.

Tez attributed the cancellation of these remakes to the especially poor reception of last year's GTA Trilogy remaster, which received a 5 in IGN’s review for its sloppy redesign and "straight-up broken" mechanics.

The studio is now focusing on GTA 6, which was confirmed to be in development earlier this year. Though it's already been announced, fans shouldn't expect a wave of news about the title for a while, as Rockstar plans to reveal details about the game on its own schedule. It's possible that GTA 6 won't come out until 2024 or 2025, and even then, it'll reportedly have a smaller size with plans for post-launch updates to help eliminate crunch.
